How to Disable Auto Ordering for a Specific RO?

Last updated: May 10, 2026

Overview

If you forgot to mark an order as quote only or potential total before it kicked off, you can still stop PartBay from automatically placing the order, so as long as the file is still within the quoting period. Disabling auto order lets quoting and selection finish as normal, but holds the order in Ready to Order instead of sending it to the vendor automatically.

How It Works

When an order is in the quoting phase, PartBay will normally complete quoting, make selections, and then auto-order any non-flagged parts (assuming auto-ordering is enabled for your organization). Disabling auto order interrupts that final step. Quoting and selection still happen exactly as they would on any other order, but the parts sit in Ready to Order until someone on your team places the order manually or archives the file.

This effectively converts the order into the same workflow as a quote only or potential total file after the fact.

How to Disable Auto Order

Navigate to the order you want to hold, then open the Quoting tab. To the right of the search bar in the top right corner, you'll see a Disable Auto Order button. Click it and confirm the action when prompted. From that point forward, the order will continue through quoting and selection but will not be automatically placed.
